For people influenced by Chinese culture, the Lantern Festival can be an important traditional festival because it is the climax and symbolizes the end of Chinese New Year celebrations. It is also known as "second New Year" or "little New Year".

As this is a very important holiday in Taiwan and a lot of festivities are held all over the island, let's talk about "the Lantern Festival" this week and see how much you know about this traditional festival. Think about the following questions beforehand and feel free to share your opinions with us in class today.

Q1: When is the Lantern Festival? What does it mean to people here in Taiwan?

Q2: What do people do to celebrate the Lantern Festival in Taiwan? Any famous activities or events? Have you ever been to any one of them?

Q3: Are there any traditional foods for this festival?

Q4: Do you know the answers to the following "lantern riddles"?
(1) What is full of holes, but still holds water?
(2) Tear my skin and I will not cry, but you will. What am I?
