2009 is going to draw a close in a couple of days and 2010 is just around the corner. It's a time for us to reflect on 2009 and look into the future. So, today we are going to talk about "New Year Resolutions". Think about the following questions beforehand and feel free to share your views with us in class today.
Q1: New Year is almost upon us. Do you have any plans for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day?
Q2: Do you have any memorable experience of greeting New Year? What happened?
Q3: Do you have any New Year resolutions? (New Year’s resolutions)?
- lose weight (shed some pounds) or tone your body
- get rid of your spare tire (love handle, beer belly))
- gain weight
- quit smoking (or cut back on smoking)
- don’t put off till tomorrow what should be done today (stop procrastination) (Stop finishing things at the last minute)
- eat healthy food and have a healthier lifestyle
- study English harder (or learn a new language)
- spend more time with family members or your loved ones
- save more money
- learn how to play an instrument (guitar, piano, flute, etc)
- others

Q5: Do you remember your 2009 resolutions? What are they?
Q6: Did you stick to your 2009 resolutions? (Did you follow through on those resolutions?)Why or why not?
