2/21 Free Online English Class

The Chinese New Year holidays will come to an end on February 21 and our life will go back on track although we all celebrate Chinese New Year until the Lantern Festival. So, let's make "Chinese New Year" the theme of this week. Think about the following questions beforehand and feel free to share your opinions with us in class today.

Q1: How did you spend your Chinese New Year holidays? What did you do? Did you feel any holiday spirit this year?

Q2: What's your most memorable Chinese New Year?

Q3: What do people usually do on Chinese New Year's Eve and on Chinese New Year's Day?

Q4: Do you know any taboos or superstitions of Chinese New Year?

Q5: What is a "red envelope"? Who can get a red envelope during Chinese New Year holidays? What's inside a red envelope?

Q6: What are traditional Chinese New Year foods? Do you know how to introduce those foods to a foreign friend?

Q7: What else do you know about Chinese New Year?

Finally, I'd like to share a video clip by U.S. President Barack Obama. In this video, he extends wishes peace, prosperity and good health to Americans and people across the world who are celebrating the Lunar New Year and welcoming the Chinese Year of the Tiger.

If you have any questions, let me know. See you in class at 9:00 p.m. on February 21.
