The 2006 Tour Guide Oral Exam
Q1: You said you had travelled abroad several times. Have you ever joined any tour groups?
Q2: As you always went alone, like a backpacker, any incidents or accidents happened during those trips?
Q3: If I were a foreigner and i wanted to travel in Taiwan, what advice would you give me in general?
Q4: What do you think of the accommodation in Taiwan?
Q5: What do you know about Taiwanese culture?
Q6: What makes you think you are more qualified than other participants in today's exam?
Q7: The incident happening in Nan-tou involving a Japanese couple obiviously has much to do with cross-cultural misunderstandings, what's your opinion on this?
You don't have to wear too formally. I think a shirt and dress pants will be appropriate. Remember to have eye contact with the interviewers. They are very friendly and kind. Just have fun and enjoy it.
Dear Gary~
I am Shelley. ( My nick name is 小黑豆)
I saw this website from your MSN.
I wanna ask you a question that why did you want to take the 領隊 and 導遊 exam?
At several days ago, I want to take the exam. But I lost my senior high graduated certification.
>"<
Also,my mom told me that if you didn't want to be the tourguide, don't waste money to take the exam.
So, what's your opion of taking that exam? Just for getting a liscence, or someday you will do the job.
Hi, Shelly,
Long time no see. How have you been? You must be up to your ears in so many activitites. Hope everything is doing well with you.
As for your question, the reason why I took the tour guide and tour leader exams is that I would like to be a tour guide or a tour leader during summer or winter vacations. As you know, I love both traveling and teaching very much. It should be cool to make both part of my carer plan.
What do you think? Why did you want to take the exams? Just for fun? Or just have a back-up plan for your career? No matter what, it's always nice to have some licenses or certificates nowadays just in case.
That's just me. What do you say? Please say hello to your fellow classmates for me. And if possible, we can hang out a bit sometime during the forcoming winter break.
All the best,
Gary
Hi Gary:
Several months later, we will graduate from this university.
Some classmates prepared the exam for graduation school or get a "door" to work in the government.
But, it still have a lot of classmates do not know what to do after graduated.
The reason that I want to take the tour guide and tour leader liscence is for having a back-up plan in my career.
For sure, I would like to take the work related to business or international.
But everyone knew that it is very hard to find your ideal job.
We want to step out, but got confused.
In the end, I would like tell you the good news.
Two of my classmates ,who are Kevin and another girl, got the chances to be the exchange students at next semester.
(In America Kansas
In the recommendation exam, about six classmates did a good job in TKU,NKUST,NYUST,NCUE and FCU.
So.....I think I should do a lot efforts on preparing the future career.
Best regards,
Shelley
Dear Shelly,
Glad to hear from you and get to know all the great news.
Graduation means another commencement. Some choose advanced study, and others opt for hands-on working experience in the job field. No matter what route you choose, either is gonna do you good in one way or another. Just like what we discussed in class before, people nowadays don't know what they want and sometimes don't have the guts to go after what they want (Or give in to the reality too easily). However, sometimes it takes some time to figure out what we really want and what we really enjoy doing. So, take your time. There is no rush. It took me a few years to get to the bottom of it. And now I'm still trying to think about it. So, I believe along the journey of life, little by little, a lot of ideas might just hit you or cross your mind. All we have to do is not to turn a deaf ear to our voice within.
Congrats to you and your classmates on all the great things happening to you guys. We should try to make some time to have some coffee or catch up a bit.
